A safe way to clean your beautiful locks.

After reading up about how dangerous and damaging sulfates can be, I decide to not shampoo my hair anymore. So I researched different ways to clean my hair, and I found that a lot of people were recommending baking soda. At first I just mixed it with water in a squirt bottle, but found that it worked better if I just took a palm-full of it and wet it just enough to make a paste. I then proceeded to rub it onto my hair and let it sit for about 3-5 minuets. Then I would rinse it out, and sometimes condition it after (but that was when I had longer hair). I did this about three to four times a week. It works pretty well to clean greasy hair, but I wouldn't recommend using it everyday because it could strip the natural oils from your hair and cause it to become greasier. I use baking soda for a lot of other thing, but I will tell you more about those things in future posts.

Also something I tried on my hair recently, was apple-cider vinegar. I read that it cleans your hair wonderfully and gives it a beautiful shine. It did give my hair shine, but it didn't clean as well as I had hoped it would, and later that week my head became unbearably itchy. I'm not sure if the apple-cider vinegar caused it. My scalp being itchy lead me to research how to get rid of it. Many sites recommended unnatural things like Head & Shoulders and other common dandruff shampoos. I was about to give up, when I found a website talking about the uses for Coconut oil. It read that Coconut oil works really well to get rid of dandruff, because it has all these vitamins that are really healthy for your scalp and work on strengthening it. So I tried it and it certainly made the itch go away, but I think I did it wrong. Instead of working some into my hair after taking a shower (like the website recommended) I just rubbed it on my scalp when it was dry, and after realizing that It probably was going to be a oily mess, I then wet it down a little and wrapped a towel around it. Then I went to bed, and woke up to find my hair oily and not so very clean. So I think I'm going to try the way the website recommends. I really hope that this post has been informative for all of you who are deciding to stop using shampoo, and If not I hope it will at least give you something to think about.
Remember that you are beautiful!
 God bless!
